Stage 1 — Site survey and load study
An engineer visits the roof, measures usable shade-free area, checks slab or shed strength, inspects the distribution board and earthing, and photographs cable routes. Alongside that we read twelve months of K-Electric bills to build your consumption curve.
This stage decides everything else. A system sized from a phone call rather than a roof visit is the most common reason Karachi customers end up with either too little output or an uneconomic export surplus.
Stage 2 — Design and itemised quotation
You receive a layout showing panel rows, tilt and azimuth, string configuration, inverter position, cable routes and protection devices, with model numbers for every component.
- Array layout with row spacing set to avoid self-shading in Karachi's winter sun angle
- String sizing matched to inverter MPPT voltage window at 45°C roof temperature
- DC and AC cable gauges, breaker and SPD ratings
- Hot-dip galvanised structure specification for coastal air
- Expected monthly generation, month by month, not a single annual figure
Stage 3 — Structure and mechanical installation
The mounting structure goes up first, anchored and levelled. In Karachi we raise arrays high enough for airflow and cleaning access, and keep fixings away from waterproofing layers so the roof does not leak in monsoon.
Panels are then mounted and torqued to the manufacturer specification. A typical 10 kW residential array takes one to two days at this stage.
Stage 4 — Electrical work and commissioning
DC strings are terminated in a combiner box with fuses and surge protection, the inverter is mounted in a shaded ventilated location, AC output is tied into the distribution board through a dedicated breaker, and the whole system is earthed.
Commissioning includes insulation resistance tests, string voltage and current checks, inverter configuration, monitoring setup, and a walkthrough with you on the app and the isolators.
Stage 5 — K-Electric net metering
We prepare the application, single-line diagram, equipment datasheets and test reports, submit them, and follow the inspection and bidirectional meter installation through to approval. Site work is done in days; net metering approval is measured in weeks and depends on K-Electric.
Realistic Karachi timeline
For a standard residential rooftop, plan on the following.
- Survey to quotation: 1 to 3 days
- Material mobilisation: 3 to 7 days
- Structure, panels and wiring on site: 2 to 4 days
- Commissioning and handover: same week
- Net metering approval: several weeks after submission
Frequently asked questions
- How long does solar panel installation take in Karachi?
- On-site work for a typical residential system takes two to four days. Net metering approval through K-Electric takes several weeks after submission.
- Do I need to be present during installation?
- Access is needed to the roof and distribution board, and a short shutdown is required for the AC tie-in. You do not need to supervise the whole job.
- Will the installation damage my roof?
- No, when fixings are planned around the waterproofing layer. Our survey records the roof build-up before any anchor is placed.
- Who does the net metering paperwork?
- Eco Fusion Solution prepares and follows the complete K-Electric net-metering file in-house.
